Len is the independent non-executive chairman of Steinhoff
International and was first appointed to the board in 1998.
Len is an independent consultant and professional director. Prior
positions include executive director of internal audit portfolio and head
of investments at the Independent Development Trust, and professor
and head of the department of accountancy at the University of Durban-Westville. He is a past patron of the Institute of Internal Auditors South
Africa, and a member of the King Committee on Corporate Governance
in South Africa, the Corporate Governance Network and the Institute of
Directors. He was appointed chairperson of the ministerial panel for the
review of the regulation of accountants and auditors in South Africa in
2003 and served as chairman of the audit committee of the International
Monetary Fund. Len was appointed chairman of the Steinhoff board
in September 2008 and held various committee positions including
chairman of the audit and risk committee, the risk advisory committee,
and a member of the nomination committee and the human resources
and remuneration committee.
Len is also a non-executive director of Lonmin plc, Alexander Forbes
Equity Holdings, JD Group Limited, Sappi Limited and Exxaro Resources
Limited. |
